Living a life where you dread working is a life no one deserves to live.

It’s not because you don’t want to work, but it’s because your job doesn’t align with who you are and who you want to become.

So, you keep telling yourself, “I don’t want to work anymore”, but how can you really make it a reality?

I’ll talk about how you can realistically follow your dreams without compromising your basic needs from my experience.

I Don’t Want To Work Anymore, But I Need The Money!

When I started to feel unhappy with my previous job, I knew I couldn’t resign right away because of my monthly bills and day-to-day expenses.

So, I had to work for 3 months more to make sure I have extra money saved up before I resigned.

In order to maximize my savings, I’ve had to…

  1. Cut on costs

That means any extra luxury, I’ve had to cut off.

No food deliveries, expensive coffee, and even decided to buy a bike instead of commuting daily (my workplace is only 20 minutes away by cycling, so thought it’d be worth it!)

You may have to adjust a bit, such as cooking at home more frequently, but they’ll become good habits that’ll not only save you money but teach you to become more responsible.

I made a list of every expense I had, and from there I’d decide whether it’s a necessity or a luxury. By the end of the month, I was able to save a few hundred dollars.

  1. Used ALL of my vacation credits

At that time, I was already deadset on resigning. However, I knew my mental state wasn’t at its best.

To recover from my burnout, I used up all of my leaves. It didn’t matter as I’m not going to stay long anyway.

I also used this period to start planning on what I should do next, such as, where can I find extra income? And how can I start following my passions?

The alone was just what I needed to have a clear head, and the planning stage gave me some mental clarity on my next chapter.

  1. I worked at a part-time that I liked

I looked up a few part-time jobs that weren’t too heavy on my part that I can work on my days off and after my shift at my full-time job.

Honestly, this part was A LOT of fun. There are tons of freelance jobs you can do online or locally, so I deliberately chose jobs that are refreshing to me.

My first part-time job was as a dog sitter, which I’d work after shift. I’ve been working in a cubicle, so having a job that pays me to walk their dog counts as my daily exercise.

I thought you’d like to learn MY favorite method on how anyone can earn an extra $200/week (or more) WITHOUT doing the work. I call it Dropservicing, where we resell services instead of products!

Here’s how YOU can do it:

1.) Message local business owners/online business owners with this script

“Hi, My name is (your name)! I’m working with a team that specializes in graphic design. I’ve noticed you haven’t been posting on social media for any recent promos/events. I’d like to help you out with that. Let me know if you’re planning to have Valentine’s sale in the next week, and I’ll make something for you.”

Obviously, you can change the script and tweak it to fit your client and the event.

2.) Go to Fiverr and look for talented Freelancers who can do it for cheap

The freelancer I recommend for graphic design is this seller right here who has almost 400 positive reviews, and you can buy his services for only $5! If you don’t have a Fiverr account yet, you can sign-up using this link.

3.) Resell your service at a higher price

You can charge your service for twice the amount or more. A lot of freelancers do this to make an extra few hundred dollars, and this is how most agency owners start their businesses.

4.) Keep sending messages

In the beginning, you’re going to need a lot of patience and persistence. However, the method above costs you no money at all to start. It’ll only require effort when you’re just starting.

But if you want to take things seriously, enroll in a course to maximize your efforts. I recommend buying Colleen’s course for social media marketing (it’s only $26 for the full course).

ADDITIONAL TIP: If you want to sell to BIG companies and earn triple the profits, use Fiverr Business. You can create an account right here. It’s a business-tier marketplace for freelancers.

In the next part of the article, I’ll list down the part-time jobs that you can start doing, so you can start saving for your resignation.

If you’re a native English speaker or if you speak English fluently, there are plenty of job opportunities for you.

You can earn between $10 to $60/hour, depending on the company.

What I like about online tutoring is that it only takes a few hours a day, and it’s a great way to socialize with people from different cultures.

You don’t have to be an English tutor only though, you teach Math, Science, or even Music. Book Widgets made a step-by-step process on how you can start your online tutor journey.

You can definitely start teaching people while you’re still working in your full-time job. The best part? They’re always hiring and they hire quickly! 🙂

If you enjoy writing and you want to start earning money as soon as possible, becoming a freelance writer is a great opportunity.

While having your website allows you to earn more, it does take time before you can start seeing revenues from your ads.

For those who are immediate of a quick buck, freelancing is the best way.

How?  You can start by looking at websites that don’t upload posts regularly and send them a message offering your content writing service.

Again, when you start gaining momentum, you can turn this one-man show into a thriving writing agency.

Virtual Assistant

It’s like being a secretary in an office, but not really.

If you like being versatile and learning a multitude of skillsets, being a VA might allow you to showcase your skills.

The range can be anywhere from writing, editing, researching, data entry, and other tasks. As a Virtual Assistant, you can get paid as low as $25 to $100 an hour.

Plenty of business owners are looking for a VA to help them out with their day-to-day tasks, so you can get hired very quickly for the role.

You can learn more about how you can be a virtual assistant without any experience right here.

Customer Service Representative

I tried working as a CSR, although it was part-time while I was working my full-time job. Although I only stayed for a few months (only needed to get an extra boost on cash at that time) I did learn a great deal.

And it even helped me find a new gig as a VA, thanks to my CSR experience. The tasks entail answering calls, responding to chats, and taking care of minor data entry workload.

I’d say that the job does require you to be fast-paced, so this isn’t for everyone. You normally have to work every day on a 4-hour shift.

Graphic Designer

If you’re a creative who has an eye for art and design, you can find plenty of clients as a graphic designer. You need to have at least some experience in Adobe Creative, Photoshop, and other similar tools.

It’s pretty easy to get started, once you have your design portfolio, you can create a Fiverr account to start selling

Unconventional Ways To Earn Money Part-Time

Garage Sales and Thrift Shops

I have a friend who makes a lot of money part-time through rummaging on garage sales and thrift shops, so it’s essentially flipping items.

He first started flipping as a student, I think the most he has ever made was buying a $2 t-shirt, which turns out to be a collectible, and he sold it for $600 a few days later.

The profits are ridiculously high from flipping, but you do need to have an eye for valuable items. You can start flipping with $50, and you can turn that to $200 or more, depending on your hustle.

If you want to know how you can get started, make sure to get check out this video.

Earn By Losing Weight

If you’ve been meaning to lose weight, and you want to earn some extra cash while doing it, you might want to try Healthy Wage.

It’s a betting application, only it’s for weight loss. On average, you can earn $1,300 in your weight loss challenge.

You have full control over how much weight you’re planning to lose and how much money you’re willing to bet. When you’re on the application, there’s a prize calculator that gives you the timeframe and the amount.

You do have to pay $25/monthly to the platform, but it’s worth it as it gives you a goal to lose weight and win a cash prize.

Equipment Rental Business

If you live in an area where tourists visit often, starting an equipment rental business is a lucrative side-hustle and the best part? You don’t have to do anything!

It can be about anything, like baby equipment and gym equipment. People would prefer renting instead of purchasing as they’ll only stay for a few weeks or a month or two, so you’re doing them a favor.

You can earn an extra $3,000 a month for renting items that you aren’t using! Personally, I think it’s one of the best side-hustles you can do in 2022 as you have to little to no competition in your local area.

Cleaning Houses

I know a few people who earn money part-time by cleaning, they normally do it on the weekends. Or they’d house sit for a client after shifts.

For them, cleaning is therapeutic, and they also consider it as their workout for the day. As someone who hires a professional cleaner at least once a week, I can assure you that when you do a good job, you’ll have regulars in no time.

It’s possible to earn $1,000 a week by doing this on the side, but if cleaning is one of your passions, you can easily turn it into a business as well.

UpFlip did an in-depth series on how you can start a $62,000/month cleaning business, so make sure to check that out.

I Didn’t Want To Work Anymore, So I Quit!

I didn’t want to work anymore, so I quit….but with a plan.

It’s really important to become aware that there are thousands of options to choose from if you just start looking.

For me, finding a part-time job while I was on my leave, allowed me to open my eyes that there are still a lot of things I want to do, and staying in a job that no longer resonates with me, is only hindering my growth.

If you want to quit your job, start looking for options now, and enjoy the process.

Remember: a little sacrifice is worth the freedom. 🙂
